Job Description
USV Site Manager
Fugro have created a new service line utilising exciting new remote and autonomous technology that is designed to reduce our carbon footprint and work sustainably. Our Uncrewed Service Vessel (USV) Site Managers work on site and are responsible for the technical uptime of the Vessel, ROV and survey equipment.
Fugro’s global reach and unique know-how will put the world at your fingertips. Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently.
The Role
We are seeking senior engineers and technicians who have operational management experience to be responsible for the technical uptime of our USV’s and electric Remotely Operated Vehicles (eROVs) within the European and African region.
You will be responsible for leading a small site-based team for project mobilisations, equipment installation, equipment calibrations, vessel and equipment maintenance and technical fault finding. Therefore, you will work hands on with the remote equipment underpinning the transition from conventional survey to remote and uncrewed survey.
You will work in a stable rotation at project sites maintaining and servicing the vessel, onboard eROV systems, launch and recovery equipment and vessel mounted survey sensors ensuring that components are operational to conduct investigation and inspections in accordance with the project deliverables.
You will work directly with our clients and internal project management teams providing daily progress reports on QHSE and operational performance.
Fugro’s USV’s are designed and built specifically to carry out survey and ROV inspections. The vessel, eROV and survey spreads are a co-aligned package therefore the role is varied, and ideal candidates will be excited by the opportunity to work across the different systems rather than being focussed on just once aspect. The vessels are operated from our Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Aberdeen. The Site Manager role is key to linking the hands on operational aspects of the equipment to the remote operators, pilots and surveyors in the ROC.
What does a Remote and Uncrewed career offer:
We offer a unique opportunity to cross train and enhance your skillsets. You will be working on hugely exciting and diverse projects as well as being one of the first professionals to utilise this quickly emerging remote and uncrewed technology.

- Ability to work shift patterns up to 4 weeks in length on sites across Europe and Africa.
What we offer:
Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.
