  • Time served apprenticeship, NVQ 3 or HNC in mechatronics/electrotechnical – Essential.
  • 2+ years previous experience in wastewater treatment – Essential.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in mechanical, electrical and automation engineering – Essential.
  • Computer literate and experience in CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite – Essential.
  • BS7671 18th Edition – Desirable.
  • Relevant training in wastewater treatment/processing/chemical engineering – Desirable.
  • Forklift Truck (counterbalance) – Desirable.
  • PLC training/understanding (Siemens/Omron) – Desirable.
  • Responsible Person ACOP L8 Legionella – Desirable.
  • COSHH – Desirable.
  • IOSH Managing Safely/Working Safely – Desirable.
  • Confined Space Training – Desirable.
  • Understanding of The Water Regulations Approval Scheme (WRAS) – Desirable.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To enable and support the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at its optimum performance, ensuring full compliance to our discharge limits. Deliver quality engineering maintenance on the WWTP and mains water network to maximise uptime/minimise downtime and meet compliance. Support our sustainability targets for water usage and wastewater discharge in line with Company directives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day to day operational and engineering maintenance of a semi-automated plant, monitoring all stages of the process and making the necessary adjustments or interventions to keep within the defined limits.
  • Be the first line engineering support to the WWTP Operative on day-to-day operational activities within the plant.
  • Support the sample testing, monitoring and recording of key levels such as COD, Iron and Suspended Solids to ensure we remain compliant to set limits and can trend data for analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records using site systems, CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Routine Planned Maintenance of the WWTP as set out in the CMMS.
  • Routine Planned Maintenance of the mains water network as set out in the CMMS.
  • Reactive maintenance/breakdowns of the WWTP and mains water network as required.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical works associated with, and in line with the scope of the role.
  • Provide sound technical knowledge to support relevant asset reliability, performance and improvements.
  • Provide specialist engineering knowledge for design, installation and troubleshooting on relevant assets and systems.
  • Support the wider engineering function as aligned to the position as required.
  • Liaison with external bodies within the scope of the role (utility provider, governing bodies & contractors).
  • Deliver first line engineering support to the Sustainability Manager during reactive engineering activities concerning water & wastewater.
  • Lead planned and sanctioned engineering/sustainability initiatives (water & wastewater) as directed.
  • Be proactive in the continuous improvement in and around reducing waste/costs associated with water & wastewater.
  • Be a key member of the Site Sustainability Committee.
  • Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate action
  • Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder.
