NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. As a Utilities Shift Engineer you will be responsible for all utility-related equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supervision
  • Possess a Second Class Operating Engineer License
  • Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist or Facilities Management Professional designation is an asset
  • Legally authorized to work in US/Canada

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with operations and maintenance of large process plants that include: Boilers, Chillers, Compressors, Pumps, Piping, Power distribution etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient with strong time management skills and the ability to determine priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act

Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of all process equipment including but not limited to: fire protection systems (sprinklers, pumps, storage tanks), mechanical equipment (chillers, air compressors, steam boilers, hot oil boilers, distillation equipment), and electrical equipment & power distribution from 30kV to 208V.
  • Areas of responsibility include all utility-related equipment in under the operations scope.
  • Maintain good morale and a positive working environment.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment and ensure all reports are working to high standard
  • Drive a “right first time” culture for job quality and maintain housekeeping standard
  • Plan and prioritize work orders, scheduling, overall repairs, and maintenance to minimize facility downtime and disruptions
  • Implement methodologies to improve operational effectiveness in compliance with regulatory codes and standards
  • Assist to lead the integration of contractor partners and equipment providing support to the plant force
  • Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary action for your direct reports
  • Create incident reports, safety alerts, and safety training for direct reports and contractors
  • Assist in effective spare parts management, parts orders, and organizational changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint) & AutoCAD
  • Demonstrate problem solving methodology and breakdown management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
