Description:

Summary Assist foreman with pole inspection and treatment, pole restoration, and other utility field crew service.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

No prior experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

COMPUTER SKILLS

None.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

In order to guarantee long-term employment, must be willing to travel away from home for short and extended periods to various job locations when necessary. Must maintain a consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Saturday. Must comply with the Osmose Policy for a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with short periods of loud noise exceeding 85 decibels

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate in a safe and efficient manner utilizing all required safety equipment (hard had, safety vest, work boots, etc.)
Hands-on wood pole inspection including digging, sounding, drilling, measuring, and treating (apply wood preservatives using a variety of hand tools (such as shovels, hammers, drills, etc.)
Utilize equipment to excavate ground material around utility poles.
Must achieve and maintain acceptable levels of productivity and quality of work based on job norm and in comparison, to fellow employees.
Operate company vehicle - 4x4, and side-by-side vehicles (if applicable and qualified). Travelling to and working in a variety of settings, from urban to remote.
Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by the Foreman and following the guidelines and instructions from your supervisors and/or managers.
