Description:
Perform a variety of duties and responsibilities involved in the storing and warehousing of utility equipment, supplies and materials; order, receive, stock and issue materials and supplies for the Utilities Department; assist in maintaining adequate stock levels; and maintain stock inventory records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
General storekeeping and warehousing procedures including the ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing of materials and supplies.
Supply procedures and forms.
Departmental work methods and the materials and equipment required to perform duties.
Basic mathematics relative to maintaining inventory control.
Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel products.
Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
Safe work practices appropriate to work assignment.
Ability to:
Work without direct supervision. Must be self-motivated and show initiative in meeting daily tasks.
Learn the various parts, supplies, and materials commonly used in assigned area.
Safely operate a Utilities department vehicle.
Operate forklift with a high degree of safety and efficiency. Prefer certified Fork Lift Operators License.
Use computers and pertinent software, including Microsoft Office and Excel to input and retrieve data.
Maintain accurate and current records of transactions and maintain adequate stock levels.
Perform mathematical calculations accurately and rapidly, using a calculator; efficiently use computer and office machines.
Lift, move, sort and store objects of medium and heavy weight.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities:
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Order, receive, stock, and issue materials, parts, supplies, and tools; verify incoming shipments for appropriate quantity and quality; move stock by hand or truck; stock parts and supplies in an orderly fashion; ensure efficient utilization of available storage space.
Operate forklift in the loading, unloading, and storage of utility materials.
Assist in the monthly and bi-annual inventory of supplies and equipment; report replacement needs; assist in maintaining adequate stock levels.
Contact vendors concerning information on products, placing orders, and maintaining warranty coverage on products.
Prepare requisitioned materials, equipment and supplies for delivery; deliver and distribute to appropriate departments or work sites; issue materials to contractors.
Assist with the compilation of data for the budget and various purchasing related reports.
Monitor and maintain warranties on materials, parts, supplies, and equipment ordered.
Assist in maintaining tools and equipment in proper and safe working order.
Assist in salvaging electrical material brought in by utility crews; record issued and salvaged inventory items on the computer. Clean and revitalize all salvaged material. Store all salvaged items for disposal or selling. Record all disposals.
Issue purchase order numbers to various Utility department personnel. Initial and copy all invoices pertaining to the Utilities Department; remove purchase order from active files as material is received.
Maintain all utility (Line & Underground) work orders. Enter all work order information into the computer. Issue all relevant work order reports.
Enter all material issue and retirement tickets into the utility inventory program; run all relevant reports.
Enter new transformer data into computer and update transformer logs as required.
Balance inventory expenditures weekly and monthly.
Assist with the preparation of reports and correspondence relating to division activities.
Receive, certify, and arrange payment for invoices.
Package and ship freight as necessary.
Maintain warehouse in a clean and orderly manner. Install and organize racking and shelves.
Perform related duties as assigned.
