Utilization Management Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:

The UM clerk is responsible for accurate and timely processing of direct access referrals for assigned medical procedures. This will include but is not limited to eligibility verification, benefit verification, and business rules established. Timely data entry of paper and electronic requests. Monitoring and ensuring timeliness of notification to providers via fax. Will also perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of work processing, authorization systems and spreadsheets
• Ability to type a minimum of 30 wpm
• High attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
• Knowledge of health care industry, preferably managed care
• Displays excellent customer service and communication skills
• Demonstrates the ability to function in collaboration within a healthcare setting
• Ability to effectively communicate.
