Description:

We require two (2) Team Leaders (TL) to join our busy and growing horticulture company who will have the responsibility of managing, supervising and guiding a team of workers. The TL will plan, organise, and control the work to be done by the team members. Targets will need to be set and the TL will need to make sure that the workers achieve their targets. This role requires a good team leader with excellent people management skills, who can think on their feet.

It is a rewarding role for someone with a good understanding of our industry. This is a high responsibility position, and the ideal candidate should have:

  • At least 1 year or more of hands-on experience and/or a relevant NZ qualification.
  • Have good leadership, management and planning skills.
  • Must a be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • Have accurate attention to detail for record keeping.
  • Be aware of health and safety rules.
  • Comfortable leading and support team members.

You will be responsible for:

  • managing, leading, and training a team of workers.
  • ensuring the quality of work is to a high standard throughout the team.
  • allocate work to team member as required and where possible make improvements to current procedures with the view of efficiency and improving work performance.
  • proactive in making improvements to current procedures with the view to efficiency and improving work performance.
  • planning, managing, and organising workload in conjunction with other team leaders and/or the Management.
  • maintain communication with your team, other team leaders, and growers.
  • plan for and attend to workload in accordance with weather conditions.
  • oversee and ensure Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and implemented.
  • resolving issues within your team to achieve a positive outcome.
  • achieving targets as set out by growers and management.
  • manage and ensuring accurate record keeping.
  • ensuring there is adequate team members to complete all tasks.
  • have input into hiring, training, evaluating performance of individual team members.
  • other tasks as set by the Director to perform the duties of the role and to meet the needs of the business.
