Description:

We require an Orchard Maintenance Technician (OMT) to join our busy and growing horticulture company. This is a role required to assist with ongoing maintenance on our worksites.

It is a rewarding role for someone with a good understanding of our industry. This is a high responsibility position, and the ideal candidate should have:

  • At least 1 year or more of hands-on experience and/or relevant NZ qualification.
  • The ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to perform well in a busy environment.
  • Physically fit to perform well.
  • Good eye for detail and ensuring instructions are followed correctly.

You will be responsible for:

  • Construct erect install and repair orchard structures by carrying out work on work sites and safely using materials required on sites.
  • Install frost protection netting and artificial shelter (wind break).
  • Replace posts fix and install end assemblies.
  • Assisting in Installing of new canopy structure(agbeam) and converting existing wooden structure to agbeam.
  • Assist in Installing agbeam canopy wires and strainer wire.
  • Helping to Measure and cut metal wiring along with wooden posts.
  • Bending and laying out wiring rods and mesh and setting up posts as per the specifications.
  • Joining wooden posts using fitting spacers and setting up wiring.
  • Fixing wooden post and mesh by applying cement.
  • Preparing and pouring cement and other concrete mixes into prepared casts.
  • Using hand and power tools to perform daily activities.
  • Clearing the work area before and after work.
  • Repair farm buildings, fences and other structures.
  • Operate irrigation equipment when necessary.
  • Clear and maintain irrigation ditches.
