Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As a Validation Test Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing and executing tests to validate electrical, hardware, firmware, and software components and systems to ensure the quality and reliability of our technology products. In this role you will become a subject matter expert; you will be responsible for understanding and documenting the functional requirements of electronic products, creating and implementing a strategy for test automation, as well as proactively identifying potential problems and improving the current test process for existing and new products. This includes defining test requirements and creating processes for inspecting new products before launch and shipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Degree or College Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and/or equivalent relevant work experience
  • At least 5 or more years’ experience and a strong passion for creating innovative validation and testing solutions for complex systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical/electronics engineering principles and standards
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in electrical, hardware, and firmware test equipment and instrumentation
  • Experience with test automation software and programming languages, such as LabVIEW (preferred), Python, or C
  • Experience with Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) testing as well as various technologies (i.e., PHPoC, Arduino, Raspberry Pi) to read inputs, activate sensors, read outputs, etc. to facilitate and automate product/system testing
  • Experience with the development of Windows command-line scripts to automate tasks such as software installation and configuration
  • Self-driven with a strong attention to detail and an analytical systematic approach to problem-solving
  • Strong written (documentation), verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with electrical testing/quality assurance within the manufacturing industry is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • In a cross-functional and collaborative manner, gain a strong understanding of and document product/system functionality, reliability, installation, and configuration requirements.
  • Apply your deep understanding of system level testing and best practices to enhance existing test and validation processes, ensuring defect-free, high-quality products.
  • Define repeatable, configurable, and efficient test strategies that provide maximum test coverage, ensuring products are 100% specification compliant, meet or exceed industry best practices, meet regulatory requirements, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Define, develop, and execute test plans, standards, and processes for electrical, hardware, firmware, and software components and products.
  • Develop, commission, and maintain automated and semi-automated test solutions and environments for electrical, hardware and firmware systems testing.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to resolve any performance discrepancies and suggest quality, process, and performance improvements.
  • Provide technical support to the product development and manufacturing engineering teams in identifying and troubleshooting issues related to overall system performance.
  • Determine and document the steps required to reproduce any hard or intermittent failures/bugs to determine root cause failure mechanisms.
  • Conduct regression testing to ensure product design changes/updates do not adversely affect system performance.
  • Create wiring schematics and other technical documentation accordingly.
  • Establish technical support parameters and train operators in the use of test equipment.
  • Participate in company-wide continuous improvement initiatives.
