As a Valuation Specialist, you will be reporting to the Manager, Valuation and will be responsible for pursuing excellence in the property assessment service. You will also be responsible for understanding the property assessment, industry, our customers, interested parties, and the environment in which we operate. Using knowledge in property valuation and assessment theories, principles and practices, you will lead divisional issues and risk management, research a wide variety of topics, and develop and support strategies to improve the property assessment service and promote the good reputation of The City. Primary duties include:
- Support improvement initiatives and innovation at a divisional and/or cross-divisional level, including designing and implementing change management strategies that promote employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Support the integration of new products, services, processes, and policies into property assessment service operations.
- Research a wide variety of issues related to the performance of the Property Assessment service.
- Prepare reports, communications, and presentations to, and on behalf of, the Valuation Manager.
- Represent Valuation in internal meetings, such as operational scrums, issues management meetings, and other planning and reporting meetings.
- Represent the property assessment service on corporate projects, committees, networks, and events.
- Support issues management, risk analysis, and coordinates mitigation efforts across valuation.
- Manage divisional workflow through the Manager¿s office, including prioritizing and coordination of urgent work and requests including political or media inquiries on valuation matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Economics, Business, Real Estate, Political Science, or a related discipline.
- A certificate in Real Property Assessment or equivalent is required.
- A professional designation in assessment or appraisal being one of Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA), Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) or Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) is required.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the assessment industry, including preparing property assessments for diverse types of real estate.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use is required.
- You have strong communication, problem solving and decision-making skills, and are excellent at planning and organizing.
