Description:
Determine assessment to be performed by talking to patient / reading notes and examination of the patient. This is done to confirm the validity of the request and also in order to perform the appropriate test.
To convey clinical results of duplex and other physiologic assessments to the clinical team
To be able to communicate with patients who may have language difficulties or be too ill to discuss their problems
To be able to read and understand patients previous medical history from notes and decide on the correct assessment to be performed (not always that requested)
To be able to convey clinical findings to the surgical team on the phone or at meetings or by writing in the notes
Observe the Data Protection Act
Comply with all statutory and mandatory training within timeframes
To perform non-invasive investigation procedures, to include exercise studies, Duplex scanning (carotid, venous & arterial), exercise tests at the request of the surgical team.
To report results of the above procedures in accordance with departmental protocols.
To have responsibility for the management of a defined caseload who attend for annual exercise studies at the request of the surgical team.
To keep accurate clinical records of the studies performed
To participate in and contribute to the ethical research process.
To ensure that patients receive a high standard of care.
To liaise with nurses and nurse specialists within the hospital and the community to promote the health, safety and comfort of patients.
To be aware of and contribute to the changing role of the clinical vascular scientist and keep abreast of developments within vascular science.
To refer and report any untoward incidents of patients to medical and nursing staff as necessary.
To ensure that trust policies are complied with and that all mandatory
To be responsible for the economic use of resources including medical and non-medical supplies within the department and to be accountable for any issues arising from this.
