Description:
About the role
- It is the purpose of this role to fulfil the Registrar/ Senior Registrar role in Vascular Surgery and assist with the training of the registrar and resident medical officers.
- To be involved in the provision of patient services (including on-call activities), and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research as appropriate.
- As part of the training at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, Registrars are rotated through hospitals which include Queensland Children’s Hospital, Nambour General Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital, Caboolture Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital.

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:
- Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health’s core values.
- Proven skills in the management of both elective and emergency Vascular Surgery.
- Training, knowledge and expertise in some particular area of Vascular/Endovascular Surgery.
- Proven clinical excellence and demonstrated ability to research develop and implement high quality major teaching and educational initiatives in the speciality area.
- Maintain the process of clinical audit.
- Participate in Unit Outpatient Clinics
- Organise operating lists for maximal efficiency (DOSA, 23 Hr Stay, Day Case).
- Participate in the emergency on-call roster under the supervision of a consultant surgeon as directed by the Director of Vascular Surgery.
- Undertake and supervise emergency surgery as required.
- Cover the unit from time to time in the Outpatient Department and Operating room in the absence of unit registrars.
- Assist in the training of the Vascular and General Surgical registrars and be responsible for supervising and assisting surgical registrars and principal house officers to initiate and complete research projects for presentation and publication.
