Description:

This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Technician Cert Pts 1, 2 and 3 (Full Tech Cert) or, City and Guilds Full mechanics certificate (NVQ 3),
Or electrical, Radio / Communication or Electronic qualification or equivalent Military Qualification.
City and guilds, NVQ or recognised equivalent in Vehicle Automotive Engineering
IMI Level 2 Electric & Hybrid Automotive Engineering

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Relevant experience in a blue light fleet, conversion & system maintenance preferably Police or military.
Competent with IT office solutions (e.g. MS Word, Excel). Understand and used all the design and printing function of the 3D (SolidWorks) programmes. Create a bespoke vehicle equipment / conversion wiring diagram using Soildworks Electrical, Viso and Word/ Publisher to create user manuals / repair manuals.
Proven understanding of H&S regulations which include, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) 1998, Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) & Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation (PUWER) 1998.
Sound communication skills with experience of engaging stakeholders and external suppliers and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Comprehensive experience in and understanding of the criteria and standards relating to the installation of overt and covert Police equipment into both marked and unmarked vehicles
Good experience of working effectively as part of a team and able to work effectively on own initiative.
Proven ability in problem solving and working under pressure with minimal supervision
Excellent organisation skills with the ability to continually prioritise own workload and work to strict timescales
