Description:

Forseven, a revolutionary company is looking to transform the EV industry through cutting-edge technology and innovative engineering practices, are seeking a Vehicle Integration Engineer to join our highly skilled and dynamic Engineering team.
As a Vehicle Integration Engineer you will contribute on one of the vehicle zones (Front, Side, Rear or Interior) driving the package reviews and ensuring robust and efficient solutions are baked into the overall vehicle, you will also be required to question packaging solutions and certify all solutions have been explored and the most appropriate solution has been selected.
You will need to engage on a daily basis with all parties involved to understand and drive the concept/package within your zonal area working cross functionally between structure, body, chassis, powertrain and electrical commodity groups whilst all the time liaising with the studio, attributes & architecture.
You will be required to be a ‘hands on’ engineer able to generate models using Catia V6 that will help guide the Studio & Engineering functions with schemes that can be easily understood and incorporated.
You should understand the requirements needed by engineering and design to enable robust solutions to be explored and guide reviews to explore the most appropriate solution (with the assistance of the Chief Engineer) and understand hardpoint generation from a package and regulatory point of view.
A breadth of engineering understanding is crucial as the company is working on vehicles in multiple sectors, regions and powertrains

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering experience across a number of commodity groups ideally from 1 or more…..HV powertrain, interior, structures, chassis, exterior, BIW or electrical in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier:
  • Package/Concept/Architecture Engineer for 1+ year
  • Engineer: over 3 years
  • Understanding of hardpoint development and regulatory requirements relating to new a future legislation would be beneficial
  • Competence in reviewing engineering solutions.
  • Catia V5 (or alternative CAD system) design experience essential.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The principal accountabilities of any Package & Integration function are to manage their zonal area and ensure incompatibilities are tracked and resolved with the buy in from all parties, escalated where required and supported with clear solutions and requirements.
  • As a holistic engineering role it will require a level of developing design solutions that are the can be taken forward which deliver the best resolution for the vehicle/platform and not the quickest or most simple solution.
  • Projects are all developed primarily for internal projects with some external client programmes taking place concurrently, there is an expectation of client facing activities including preparing and progress reviews, setting early targets including attributes, cost & mass.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on zone specific package models and assemblies, understand and agree solutions
  • Study system integration activities to support resolution of issues where required
  • Involvement in regular design reviews internally and externally as required.
  • Manage issues and define when the escalation process needs to be used.
  • Liaise with Design and Project Management to ensure technical targets, program timings and budgetary requirements are understood.
  • Liaise with all engineering functions to understand commodity specific limitations and feasibility.
  • Work to provide engineering deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
  • Liaise with vehicle teams to support feasible solutions with regard to manufacturing, assembly and homologation.
  • Plan and maintain progress in improving personal professional competence.
  • Assist in scoping and defining high quality and imaginative component technical solutions to project requirements.
  • With the members of the Design Team, guide the preparation of 3D part models and 3D assembly models / drawings of powertrain components / systems.
  • Provide input data to CAE and other Engineering activities.
  • Ensure that your technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date.
  • Use knowledge of component supplier base to suggest design solutions
  • Initiate and conduct meetings with technical suppliers, third party suppliers, and Technical Partners as required.
  • Prepare Development status to present to client project teams, client senior management, project suppliers and internally to Company personnel.
  • Ensure designs meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements, and are formally verified to meet these and other specifications (performance, cost).
  • Maintain pro-active liaison between Styling, Design, Engineering, Procurement, EDB and Workshop to ensure effective project communication
