DESCRIPTION

General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Vehicle Mechanics (VM) to join our established team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £34,400 to £43,000 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.
Joining an established team based at our Merthyr ( South Wales ) facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders to conduct up to Level 4 Maintenance on Armoured Platforms, Sub-Systems and Training Systems and will be based at the GDLS-UK Facility in Merthyr Tydfil. Whilst contracted to a 37.5hrs working week, there are opportunities to work some extended paid hours and weekends if the programme requires it. There may also be requirements to work in other UK locations for specific tasks..

Responsibilities:

TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of automotive systems and how they work together. Diesel Engines, Transmissions, Hydraulics & Electrics
  • Highly customer focused with good communication skills.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office and automotive diagnostic systems
  • Ability to share knowledge within the team
  • Military VM1 / NVQ and/or City & Guilds Level 3.
  • Full UK Driving licence preferably including Category H, legally allowed to drive in the UK and have access to transport
