Description:
MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment.
- Be licensed and have a minimum of 2 years’ operating a recovery vehicle.
- High school diploma or equivalent training & experience.
- Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
- Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain a work visa.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Perform vehicle recovery service to authorized customers on and off Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). Act as mechanic when no recovery efforts are needed. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide vehicle operations, maintenance, and support for all registered and non-registered government vehicles to include approved vehicles from the host organization, AAAF Tenants, other Government contractors or contractors as approved by the Contracting Officer or SLD 45 Support Agreements.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and vehicle support equipment.
- Provide vehicle services (management and maintenance) and ground transportation services.
- Provide for efficient and economical operation and maintenance of the vehicle fleet.
- Ensure that all vehicles released from vehicle maintenance shop shall meet standards.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
- Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
- Ensure vehicles placed in short term storage such as NMCS and vehicles awaiting disposition instructions are properly protected from the weather/environment and inspected a minimum of once every 30 calendar days.
- Utilize recovery assets for authorized customers that have broken down across the island.
