JOB TITLE: VEHICLE SUPPLY CHAIN AND PROCESS OPTIMISATION MANAGER

Location: Coventry
Hours: Commensurate with the position of your role within the organisation, you will be required to adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked and which may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties. The basic contractual hours will be 37.5 hours per week, with an unpaid lunch break of half an hour any 5 days from 7 days.

Responsibilities:

ROLE

We are currently recruiting for a Vehicle Supply Chain and Process Optimisation Manager to join our team based at our Head Office in Coventry. The main purpose of the role is to provide leadership and management of small team (VSC) to expedite the Quote to Supply cycle for new orders, redeployments and one-off projects. Collaboratively working across the Technical Pricing, VSC and Sales functions, deliver improvements to workflow and process optimisation to reduce build and supply lead time, continual supplier performance improvement and reduce cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in cross / multi skilled training within your department or other departments as deemed appropriate by your Manager.
  • Carry out any reasonable instruction as directed by a Manager [or Director].
  • Deal with all internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of dress and appearance at all times adhering to PPE where the role requires this
  • Attend any training sessions as requested and adhere to all company regulations.
    From time to time you may be required to carry out duties outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested by Management.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plans and project manages the vehicle build schedules using exiting and new solutions, including outsource arrangements to ensure the efficient and effective workflow of vehicle builds, delivering projects on time and to cost.
  • Ownership of the relationship interfacing to Finance on Capital spend matters and the associated reporting of capital and build reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the order and build process meets the business pipeline and customers’ vehicles are delivered to the correct specification and according to original delivery schedule.
  • Seek new and innovative ways to improve the VSC performance across partnerships, commercial terms, digital solutions and enhanced workflow, both internal and externally facing.
  • Monitor and Manage all project plans for each customer’s orders, with associated reporting needs
  • Responsible for escalating slippage of order with suppliers according to company reporting timeline
  • Manage the end to end process through to PDI (Pre delivery Inspection) ensuring forecast compliance
  • Manage the relationships with the Capex suppliers to improve performance, securing absolute P&L benefits
  • Performance Management and Development of the team including setting personal objectives, providing support and coaching to provide clarity on roles and responsibilities
  • Manage all build delays, ensuring that all parties are notified and actions to remedy implemented, at a weekly reporting level with recovery of lost income as appropriate
  • Manage the order bank interfacing with other department heads to expedite.
  • Attend weekly meetings to report on and discuss impact of any slippage, deliveries & issues and provide timely and accurate finance information and ensure accurate capex forecasting.
  • Provide input and support the preparation of Capex forecasts weekly and collate, analyse and challenge forecast information appropriately and to highlight payments due to suppliers each week
  • Maintain appropriate metrics to show areas for improvement and performance trends.
  • Ensure the team and the purchasing function work as an integral part of the sales and bid cycle collaborating with other functions for best business solution.
  • Monitor the execution of financial transactions as per relevant policies and legal contracts
  • Develop, improve and deliver the process, system and digitalisation enhancements to the Order to Quote and Quote to Supply processes. Take responsibility for the project or program management, from concept to modelling and deployment.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects across the VSC and Supply Chain/Procurement teams designed to optimise workflow, processes, inter-department tasks and implement them as required.

    Person Specification

  • CIPS Qualified desirable with not less than 5 yrs experience in a supply chain or process/planning function environment

  • Body builder or Vehicle manufacturer experience advantageous
  • Highly numerate, able to interpret financial data and good commercial acumen
  • People Management and Development skills
  • Ability to manage high value projects/ good understanding & use of Microsoft project or similar required
  • Supplier relationship management experience
  • Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Good understanding of CAPEX and financial reports.
  • Ability to pick up in house computer systems easily
  • Ability to meet deadlines and provide regular updates to key stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Good communication skills at all levels both verbal and written
  • An excellent team player, able to integrate as part of a matrix, collaborative structure
  • Current clean driving licence
