  • Formulate and refine strategies, policies and legislation for animal health and the veterinary sector.
  • Engage with stakeholders, members of the public and other government agencies for the formulation and continuous refinement of strategies, policies and legislation for animal health and the veterinary sector; and provided responses to feedback and queries on these topics.
  • Plan and develop policies on international animal health matters relating to FAO, WTO, WOAH, ASEAN and other international bodies.
  • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control projects that may be assigned from time to time.Carry out roles as part of the NParks Veterinary team, which would include participation in field investigations where required.

Responsibilities:

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the formulation of animal health and veterinary sector policies in AVS. A diverse and challenging portfolio, this would give you the opportunity to shape the development and implementation of policies and legislation pertaining to animal health in Singapore such as policies relating to the (i) trade and movement of companion animals, live food animals, and their products; (ii) the preparedness and response to animal diseases and (iii) changes to Singapore’s import and export requirements to safeguard animal health. You will also be supporting the team working on Veterinary Professional Standards Development, have the opportunity for international domain work and to provide technical inputs for animal health assessments.
