Position Description
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Cal Poly President, the Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for Cal Poly, Solano Campus serves on the President’s Cabinet and is the administrative leader and chief executive officer for Cal Poly, Solano Campus. Responsible for all aspects of the campus, the VP and CEO provides strategic vision, leadership, and management for all campus operations and initiatives. In partnership with the Provost & Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, the VP & CEO supervises the Cal Poly Maritime Academy Superintendent and has oversight on the operational aspects of the Cal Poly Maritime Academy. The VP & CEO drives long-term strategic planning, university development, enrollment, and ensures compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations, Cal Poly and California State University policy, and adheres to collective bargaining agreements. The incumbent advocates for the campus and serves in a key role with local, state and federal government officials.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- Strong leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration, inclusivity, and integrity with the ability to promote an inclusive, equitable, and supportive environment for all students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
- Strategic problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Financial acumen and ability to manage complex budgets and resources responsibility.
Education and Experience
- Doctoral degree or comparable terminal degree.
- Experience leading and managing a large, complex organization in a challenging financial environment.
- Successful leadership experience in higher education administration.
Salary and Benefits
The anticipated hiring range for this role is $280,000-$290,000. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
