The VP of Financial Development serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. This position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities and will help forge new relationships to build the Y’s nonprofit visibility, impact, and financial resources. Why Join Us? Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, nonprofit management, business, marketing or equivalent required; CFRE and/or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of successful business experience including fundraising, participation in nonprofit boards, and community engagement.
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing relationships over time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long term relationships.
  • A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and collaboratively, to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
  • Ability to communicate passion for the Y’s mission and relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions

  • Direct and administer total operation of the development department including interpretation and execution of policies, development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation and the effectiveness of the program and operations.
  • Develop organizational goals and strategic plans for fundraising, balancing long-term direction and short-term requirements in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Develop systems and manage resources, including the financial development budget, needed to carry out the fundraising plans.
  • Develop processes and actively involved in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects. Continuously develop ongoing community partnerships and maintain database resource file on top community leaders.
  • Direct and coordinate Association on capital development, annual campaign, endowment and planned giving programs in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Engage the board in challenging conversations and decision making to advance the Y’s impact when serving as the primary staff liaison to the financial development committee on the Board of Directors. Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development in collaboration with supervisor and/or AVP of Association Services.
  • Provide training in fundraising. Educate, motivate and provide feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.
  • Create and implement effective communication strategies with compelling messages that inspire others to accomplish the mission and cause with maximum impact. Develop communication plans to ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support.
  • Coordinate and direct association-wide planning, celebration, kickoff, evaluation of campaigns and donor recognition events.
