About The Role – Vice President of Operations, Maple Ridge, BC (RST Instruments & Navstar)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Vice President of Operations within our Digital Solutions team. The position has overall responsibility for enabling business growth by translating the strategies of the RST and Navstar brands into operational priorities and executing (delivering results) against those priorities.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years experience in manufacturing / operations / supply chain related roles. Experience in low-mid volume / high mix, engineered-to-order and configured-to-order environments is highly valued.
- 10+ years personnel leadership experience, including coaching / teaching of operational management skills.
- Proven influencing and change management skills.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in Lean manufacturing practices.
- Working knowledge of gated product development & commercialization processes.Previous experience in adjacent roles is an asset – e.g. Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Ops Planning.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management
- Advanced education in business (e.g. MBA) is an asset.
- Lean certification is an asset.
- Project management certification is an asset.Change management certification is an asset.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop People and Teams: Lead the Quality, Supply Chain Management (Strategic and Tactical Purchasing, Materials Management, and Logistics), Production, Production Planning and Control, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Establish Priorities: Collaborate cross functionally to translate business priorities and external and internal customer needs into operational priorities.
- Develop Action Plans: Lead operational plan (1.5-2yr horizon) development and execution, including KPI target setting and management (including OpEx and CapEx).
- Build a Positive Culture: Foster a culture of trust, accountability, autonomy, creativity, and results. Develop the Safety First and Quality Built-in mindset.Other duties as assigned by management.
ROLE DIMENSIONS
The role reports to the COO and its prime focus is driving effective execution. KPIs include Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (COGS, GM), and Inventory.
