We are seeking a visionary leader to join us as the Vice President of Research Operations.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As the Vice President of Research Operations, you will be at the forefront of transforming our research landscape. Reporting to the Chief Research Officer (CRO) with a matrixed report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will drive the strategic direction and daily management of research activities, grants, and contracts administration across DHMC and its affiliated institutions. This is an exciting opportunity to shape best practices, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance in a dynamic research environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) with significant experience in research operations and administration, preferably within an academic medical center or research institution.
- Proven track record in a senior leadership role, with expertise in managing complex research programs and navigating grant and contract administration.
- Strong understanding of research regulations and compliance requirements, coupled with a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation, improve processes, and achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CRO, clinical chairs, and center directors to establish robust leadership and reporting structures that support our research mission and promote a culture of exceptional customer service.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of research operations, including Pre-Award, Post Award, Regulatory Compliance, Clinical Operations Support, Research Finance, and Quality Assurance. Ensure seamless coordination across these areas to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our research enterprise.
- Innovation and Growth: Work with the CRO to improve patient access to clinical trials, drive study start-up initiatives, and identify new research funding opportunities. Lead efforts in high-impact research areas, including the management of complex center grants.
- Technology Optimization: Ensure the effective use and integration of existing technologies in support of research activities, while exploring new technologies that enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Team Development: Mentor and guide research unit leaders to foster a high-performance, collaborative culture. Promote continuous professional development and growth within your teams.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring that all clinical trial operations meet the highest standards of integrity and excellence.
- Performance Measurement: Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure both financial and academic returns on investment, driving accountability and transparency within the research operations.
- Communication and Engagement: Establish regular communication channels to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in the research community, facilitating continuous feedback and improvement.
