VICTIM SERVICES COORDINATOR / CASE WORKER

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively both verbally and written.
- Ability to deal positively, courteously and tactfully with the public and co-workers.
- Basic knowledge of identified provisions of the Local Government Act, the Community Charter, City Bylaws and other Provincial Statutes.
- Must be able to demonstrate a flexible and creative approach when learning new tasks and procedures that evolve over time.
- Operates various office and computer equipment and must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, keyboarding and /speedwriting.
- Knowledge of and experience with the social sector
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain required program records, statistics, reports, and address correspondence to the program.
- Be knowledgeable about program objectives, policies, procedures and services provided to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma and have considerable knowledge of crisis intervention practices and techniques.
- Maintain accurate and up to date client files.
- Promote PBVS to the public, conduct presentations to community groups, social services agencies and police.
- Operate current RCMP computerized information software systems including PRIME.
- To deal with confidential information with the utmost tact and professionalism, understanding the importance of confidentiality.
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12
- Work experience and formal education in social services or justice system support work
- Obtain and maintain necessary security clearance with the RCMP
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Salary: $35.91 / hour.

Responsibilities:
POSITION PURPOSE STATEMENT
Reporting to the RCMP Detachment Commander, the Police Based Victim Services Coordinator/Case Worker is relied upon to provide a wide range of services to police officers and clients daily. The RCMP regularly refers clients to PBVS and in many situations, members are required to refer clients to PBVS as per RCMP policy.
