ABOUT VOCCR!
Across three Queensland regions (Townsville, Cairns and Logan), the Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) service focuses on addressing current gaps faced by victim-survivors needing immediate practical support after experiencing a violent crime. We aim is to provide efficient short-term crisis assistance such as coordinating emergency transport and accommodation, and addressing basic needs such as food, clothing, home safety upgrades and more, within the first 72 hours of the incident. Additionally, we also provide referrals for long-term support which may involve legal, health, financial, and housing support.
POSITION OVERVIEW
- Employment Term: Full-time, fixed term (30/06/2025)
- Location: ON-SITE, Central Office (Brisbane, QLD)
- Remuneration: Social Community Home Care Disability Award Level 6 (pay point dependent on qualifications and relevant experience). Superannuation.
- Shifts: Monday to Thursday 2am - 10am, Friday 2am -10am or 6pm-10pm, Saturday & Sunday 2am -10am, 10am - 6pm & 6pm - 10am.
As a Team Leader, your responsibilities include leading, coaching, and mentoring the VoCCR - Response & Connection Practitioners to ensure efficient and effective service delivery for Queensland victims/survivors of violent crimes. You will need to think creatively and use professional judgment to assist with complex problem-solving in challenging clinical environments. Additionally, you will demonstrate initiative and draw on your knowledge, skills, and experience to lead service delivery in line with operational, contractual, and legislative obligations. At times, you will also assist with covering various tasks to support the broader leadership team across different service lines.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Tertiary qualifications in the areas of Social Work, Behavioural Studies, or Psychology.
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience overseeing a service delivery team with demonstrated ability to supervise, engage, retain, and support staff in a way that values diversity, is culturally competent, and prioritises psychological well-being
- Clinical experience in at least (1) one of the following areas:
- Domestic, family, and intimate partner violence
- Sexual violence and abuse
- Victims of crime
- Child protection and/or residential support, or
- Specialist trauma counselling or mental health
- Confident and effective interpersonal, communication and engagement/consultation skills.
- Theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of intersectional feminist practice and other relevant practice frameworks used to respond to victims of violent crime.
- Sound knowledge and understanding (or willingness to acquire) about the Queensland Domestic Violence Legislation and Queensland criminal justice legislation including victim of crime and child protection.
- Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners.
- Confident IT and telephone communication skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- Committed to attending DVC’s Central Brisbane Office for majority of shifts.
- Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing employment.
- Valid photo ID.
- Right to work in Australia.
