2025 Summer Student – Video Creator and Editor Summer Student
Scientists at Perimeter Institute explore the cutting edge of modern theoretical physics. They grapple with everything from the mind-bending mysteries of the quantum realm to fundamental questions about the universe that inspire awe in people of all ages and backgrounds. Perimeter’s innovative research, training, and outreach programs lead to breakthroughs that can transform the lives of Canadians and people around the world.
Summer at Perimeter is busy and we need your help. We have summer student positions available throughout the Institute, running from May 5, 2025 to August 22, 2025.
The Communications and Public Engagement team is focusing on Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in 2025! The Video Creator and Editor Summer Student is a highly organized and creative role dedicated to all things video creating and editing. Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. This individual will both create videos regarding Perimeter’s culture, Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary celebrations and on research, training and outreach work, as well as editing and repurposing already existing video content.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Video Editing:
  • Mine the PIRSA repository (Perimeter’s seminar and video archive) for high quality, accessible content, extracting Perimeter’s ‘greatest hits’ and putting together short videos highlighting Perimeter’s best scientific content
  • Collaborate on updating and improving PIRSA
  • Using other existing video resources, create short videos for YouTube, web and socials, as well as for internal communications channels
  • Video Creation, taking direction from Perimeter’s Digital Marketing Team:
  • Create short videos about life and culture at and in Perimeter, including those about Perimeter researchers and staff
  • Create short videos about Perimeter’s 25th Anniversary Platform activities and events, which may include some travel
  • Create short videos about Perimeter research, training and outreach work

What you need to have:

  • Working towards a degree in visual or digital arts, audio-visual technology or another related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven digital video creation and editing experience, including animation and sound editing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to story tell
  • A detailed-oriented individual with demonstrated organizational skills
