Description:
- Exciting multiple casual opportunities for Visitor Service Assistants, Clerk Grade 1/2 – read on to find out more!
- Package includes hourly rate ($40.26 to $43.77) plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and applicable casual loading
- Located on the Central Coast and working across multiple Parks within Hunter Central Coast Branch.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in cash handling procedures.
- Excellent oral communication, negotiation and customer service skills with experience dealing with customer inquiries and the ability to manage such inquiries in a manner that addresses customer’s concerns.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake enforcement duties associated with the park use fee system and the Departments’ / NPWS Regulations, with an ability to work unsupervised and adapt to competing priorities
- Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a two-way radio.
- Current manual driver’s licence.
- The holder of this role will be required to wear an NPWS uniform.
- This role may also involve regular evening and weekend work. This is a shift-based position, under the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.
Note: Parts of these duties are performed outside of normal operating times, and staff are rostered in pairs to perform this function.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
National Parks and Wildlife Service has the opportunity for multiple casual Visitor Service Assistants to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the Hunter Central Coast National parks and reserves.
The roles are based in the Hunter Central Coast Branch and working across the following locations:
- Lake Munmorah
- Somersby
You’ll be responsible for greeting and directing visitors to Parks, educating them on Park values, promoting a positive visitor experience and ensuring compliance with Park rules. A typical day could see you:
- Travelling from the office/depot to various National Park visitor precincts
- Engaging with visitors – providing information and advice on facilities, services and activities available
- Fostering appreciation and enjoyment by visitors of park values
- Performing Park compliance patrol duties and law enforcement
To be successful in the role, you will:
- Enjoy working outdoors and be prepared to work in various weather conditions.
- Have experience acting independently on matters relating to the entry of visitors to the national park that are not covered by policy and where supervisors are not readily available.
- Have demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of vigilance and awareness of personal safety when conducting parking patrol and law enforcement activities.
- Have superior customer service skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with a wide range of people, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
