Ideally the post holder will have experience of working in a museum or heritage visitor attraction, and experience working in a similar customer-focussed environment.
The successful candidate will have a confident and proactive approach to dealing with problems and issues, as well as a positive attitude and a desire to gain knowledge of the Museum and to share this with our visitors.

Responsibilities:
We are recruiting a part-time Visitor Services Assistant to join our busy team. Working under the supervision of the Visitor Services Manager, Visitor Services Assistants provide a friendly welcome to visitors to the Museum of Natural History (800,000+ visitors per year) and assist with enquiries. They will also encourage donations to the Museum and conversions to Gift Aid. The Visitor Services Assistants play an important role in ensuring visitor safety and in the security of the building and the Museum collection and give introductions to visiting groups.
This is a permanent, part time post, working 22 hours per week spread over Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In addition to the fixed hours, the post-holder must be willing to cover additional evening events. If working weekends, the post-holder will be required to stay on site over lunch to assist with emergency procedures if needed (this is regarded as paid-time).
The post-holder will be required to work on bank holidays.
This role requires working in hot or cold environments and regular manual handling.
Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check due to access to Museum Collections.
