The Prince George’s County Planning Department, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is seeking a talented and dedicated individual to capture and produce engaging visual content that supports our mission.
In this exciting junior role, under the direction of our head of Visual Media, you will use your expertise in photography, videography, and multimedia production to photograph and video events, create promotional videos, maintain our digital media archive, and collaborate with various divisions and units to produce high-quality content.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Production, Communication, Digital Imaging, Photography, or a related field, along with strong skills in creating professional-grade imagery and video. Proficiency in photographic and video editing software, as well as experience with a wide range of multimedia equipment, is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are also key to success in this role. Additionally, if you possess skills in 3D graphics software, motion graphics and animation, or cutting-edge augmented reality or virtual reality technologies, consider that a significant advantage that will set you apart.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Production, Communication, Digital Imaging, Photography or any related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total four (4) years.
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s licenses must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of their position.
  • Pass Commission medical examination.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong skills in creating high-quality imagery and video using various lenses, lighting, and aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in photographic and video editing software, as well as other imaging production equipment.
  • Link to an online portfolio or online demo reel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

BONUS SKILLS (NOT REQUIRED):

Experience working with any of the following is a plus but not mandatory (include a sample in your portfolio submission):

  • 3D graphics software
  • Motion graphics and animation
  • Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality technologies

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and versatile individual to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks working with our Senior Visual Media Specialist:

  • Photograph and film events and meetings using professional photo, video, and audio equipment.
  • Edit and create professional promotional videos and Department messaging using video editing software.
  • Work collaboratively with other divisions and units to produce videos, including scheduling and organizing participants and venues.
  • Maintain a large digital video archive, tagging and organizing images for quick retrieval.
  • Fulfill requests for A/V setup and operation.
  • Maintain and organize equipment for A/V productions.
  • Assist with live streaming Prince George’s County Planning Board and other public meetings.
  • Assist with video production and interviews.
  • Stay current with industry trends in photographic and video equipment.
