Description:

Open Door Group (ODG), a trailblazing non-profit organization serving communities across Canada and is on the lookout for a dedicated Vocational Services Senior Manager to join our team.
Salary: This position has a salary range of $71,772 – $103,142, commensurate with qualification and experience.
Hours of Work: 36 hours per week
Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: The person will be able to work remotely as a primary work location but will have secondary work locations of all sites located in the Vancouver Catchment, and will be expected to attend at Partner locations throughout Vancouver and the Lower Mainland on an as and when needed basis. Occasional travel within BC will also be a requirement of the role.
Your Role:
The Vocational Services Senior Manager (VSSM) ensures operational excellence through effective team leadership, the provision of expertise, and consultation for vocational services across the organization. The VSSM is responsible for positioning vocational services as a centre of excellence within the organization, continuous quality improvement, and leading innovation in disability services. The VSSM and the vocational services team are critical to the success of clients living with disabilities and complex barriers to employment.
The VSSM will lead a disability service delivery framework that ensures sustainable outcomes for clients, including defining standards, methodologies and competencies in keeping with our guiding principles of informed, strengths-based work. The VSSM is responsible for leading a team and will support the development and facilitation of training as a subject matter expert.
Examples from of core areas of responsibility include:
Ensuring a Vocational Services Centre of Excellence through collaboration with program service delivery teams, development of best practice methodologies, monitoring and analysis of trends with clients, and collaboration with the Learning and Development Team to identify ongoing needs for staff and clients.
Leading High Performing Teams by developing and implementing strategies and activities that support a culture that motivates, empowers, engages, and respects employees and that leads to the development and maintenance of high performing cohesive teams.
Engaging in Stakeholder Relations by being an expert and key point of contact for vocational services inquiries and questions for internal and external stakeholders, participate in operational committees and laisse with Partner organizations.
Continuous Service Development & Innovation through the ongoing adaptation to workflows and processes to improve client and staff experience. Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices, participating in community events and learning and networking opportunities and supporting with special projects across the organization.

What you bring to the position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor or similar.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in related managerial and supervisory roles.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in vocational rehabilitative counselling within a variety of settings to develop individualized employment plans.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining high performance teams in vocational services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with leadership, staff, government officials, and the public.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Required to pass a criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must have the ability to work on a computer for extended hours at a time
  • Travel within British Columbia may be required
