JOB DETAILS
The International Association for Democracy (IAD) is an NGO that works to defend and advance democracy around the globe. We link people with their governments and lobby governments to promote, strengthen and safeguard democratic institutions, processes, norms and values at home and abroad. We also work towards raising public awareness about the current state of democracy around the world and what should be done to better defend and promote democracy. IAD has engaged, productive and motivated volunteers. We’re looking for a Human Resources (HR) Officer to support our HR team in recruitment and administration tasks. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in HR with a thorough understanding of HR policy and procedures. The bulk of the role will involve recruitment, onboarding of new volunteers as well as orientation. We would like to meet candidates that shares our vision and wants to support us to reach our scope. The requested commitment is about 3-5 hours per week.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for promoting and defending democracy, the rule of law and human rights as well as IAD’s mission
- Knowledge of working culture in NGOs
- Experience in human resources or recruitment
- Exceptional communication skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills, and ethical mindset
- Basic understanding of Google Workspace and collaboration tools on Google Docs
- The candidate is expected to volunteer for 3-5 hours per week to this role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in HR in an NGO
- Detail-oriented and organisational nature
Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment process by preparing job ads, scheduling and attending interviews as well as short listing candidates.
- Manage onboarding activities for new volunteers.
- Assist support with orientation and training programs.
- Implement and/or maintain HR processes, procedures and databases.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external suppliers.
- Handle confidential matters with discretion
