OUR ORGANIZATION
Nucleus is a charitable, not-for-profit organization that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. We serve vulnerable, complex older adults in their homes as well as adults with physical disabilities in the Mississauga-Halton geographic region and have two satellite, Supportive Housing buildings in West Toronto.
Our workforce of talented, compassionate, and credentialled personal support workers (PSWs) provide in home care programs, such as supports for daily living, which entails a 24-hour hospital transition program, attendant services in the home, school, work, and supportive housing environments. Nucleus provides leadership for two regional programs, both unique in Ontario – Central Registry, and the Regional Learning Centre, where we support the coordinated access, intake, and eligibility for a network of local health providers across a variety of programs, including the Caregiver Respite Strategy, Food Security, and Hospital Transition programs.
Our organization is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), most recently in 2022 for three years. Our service delivery models have been recognized locally, provincially, and federally. We have two Minister’s Medals, two 3M National Awards and regional awards for quality.
Nucleus is skilfully governed by a highly motivated and talented group of 11 Board of Directors that oversees a budget of about $19M, which has grown by 30% in the last two years. Nucleus is fully funded by Ontario Health. Nucleus will be undertaking its multi-year strategic planning process in 2023.
Our Board meets a minimum of six (6) times per year and meetings are normally held at our head office in Oakville. Commitment to regularly attend meetings and participate in committee work is required.
