Description:
The Vice President of Cardiovascular Services is accountable directly to the Chief Operating Officer for the operation of the hospital’s Cardiovascular Service Line in all aspects to assure that quality patient care and services are provided in keeping with the mission and values of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
- PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONSa. Taking a leadership role in development and execution of standards of care, policies and processes within the Cardiovascular Service Line as established by the Governing Board such that purposes of the corporation are fully and effectively attained.b. Developing and submitting to the Chief Operating Officer an organizational plan for the Cardiovascular Service Line.c. Consulting with the Chief Operating Officer concerning the organization of the work of the Board and its committees in such a manner that maximum results will be obtained with minimum expenditure of time and effort.d. Seeing that the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities are adhered to by all Service Line employeese. Seeing that a balanced budget is annually prepared and approved, as required by the Boardf. Selecting, employing, engaging and, as necessary, discharging Service Line employees per established HR policies, processes and best practices. Identifying staff educational needs and developing educational programs to stimulate continuous growth.g. Maintaining related physical properties in a good state of repair and operating conditionh. Cooperating with medical staff and those concerned with the rendering of professional services such that high quality care is rendered to all patientsi. Presenting to the Chief Operating Officer periodic reports reflecting the professional services and activities of the Service Line and preparation and submission of such special reports as the Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer may requirej. Attending all meetings as so designated by the Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer; addressing various groups and representing the hospital in professional and community activitiesk. Developing, maintaining, monitoring and reporting on a long-range strategic plan for the Service Line and hospitall. Negotiating leases and service contracts with other entities as may be proper and customary for the operation of the Service Line to be submitted to the Chief Operating Officer for review and approval prior to executionm. Consulting on development of plans and specifications for buildings and equipment and the integration of technology necessary to support patient care needs and to more efficiently utilize professional resourcesn. Purchasing equipment for the Service Line/hospital provided that any purchase as set forth in the administrative manual shall be discussed with the Chief Operating Officer for approval prior to such purchaseo. Making necessary changes in the operation of the Service Line/hospital (e.g., instituting new services, terminating services, etc.), provided such changes are discussed with and approved by the Chief Operating Officer prior to executionp. Effectively marketing and/or publicizing services, equipment and procedures to the community through the Community Relations Departmentq. Providing and proposing educational programs to the hospital employees, medical staff, and community on items that will help promote their departments and the hospitalr. Implementing an effective program within hospital Departments (units) to meet the safety requirements as outlined in The Joint Commission standardss. Implementing an effective and ongoing program to monitor; evaluate and improve the quality of care delivered to patients. Participates in planning, promoting and conducting hospital wide quality assessment and improvement activities

a. Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service and Quality.
Experience: Three or more years administrative responsibilities as a hospital COO, CNO, Assistant VP of Nursing or Service Line Leader in a similar sized hospital or institution.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school with a master’s degree in nursing administration, business administration or health related field
Special Skills: Ability to focus on operational as well as strategic issues, demonstrating initiative, accountability, business acumen, and excellent provider and employee relationships in all areas of responsibility. Demonstrated experience in program development, market share growth and market differentiation in both inpatient and outpatient services. Working knowledge of reimbursement, managed care, satisfaction measurement and continuous quality improvement principles and best practices. High visibility throughout the organization as an approachable, personable and effective leader, exhibiting good verbal and written communication skills.
Licensure: If nurse, registered with the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
