VP/Director of Finance

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP/Director of Finance in the Real Estate & Property industry, based in Portland, Maine. The individual will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring the stability of our projects, and driving strategic planning efforts. This role involves both operational management and strategic planning, with a focus on enhancing the financial well-being of our projects.

• Supervise and review the financial operations of various departments
• Lead the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Develop and update internal control procedures to improve operational efficiency
• Prepare and present financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
• Monitor budget spending to ensure financial discipline across the organization
• Collaborate with other directors to prepare annual budget materials and data
• Oversee the collation of information required for annual financial audits
• Manage various grant funds and reporting including Capital Improvement, Operating, Voucher Admin, and Energy Performance Contracts
• Coordinate annual independent audit ensuring compliance with HUD and GAAP procedures
• Ensure the proper establishment of all bank accounts with correct signature authorizations.

• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a finance leadership role within the Real Estate & Property industry
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required
• Must have experience in Annual Budget creation and management
• Expertise in Auditing and Budget Processes is necessary
• Competence in Financial Statement Preparation and Financial Statement analysis is crucial
• Familiarity with HUD regulations and requirements in the real estate sector
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential
• Proficiency in Financial Modeling is required
• Must have a proven track record of strategic financial decision-making
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are necessary
• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required, a Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification is preferred
• Must have a strong understanding of real estate market trends and financial market behavior.
