Description:
We are currently seeking an Controller to join our team in the commercial real estate development industry. This role is based in Fort Myers, Florida and offers an interim / contract employment opportunity. The Controller will be tasked with overseeing the financial and cash management aspects of our operations and will work closely with our accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and cash flow forecasting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including cash management, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Work closely with the CPA firm for tax consultations and regular reviews.
- Provide accurate and comprehensive financial information to executive management for long-term financial strategizing.
- Ensure the maintenance of the company’s financial software systems including Sage Intacct.
- Supervise the accounting team and provide oversight for all accounting functions
- Lead the preparation of all financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
- Oversee cash management and develop strategies to optimize cash position.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.
- Utilize knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data to guide the company’s financial decisions.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis and reports to the management team.
- Perform cash flow analysis and prepare cash flow reports for the management team.
- Ideally looking for a minimum of 10 years of overall accounting experience with prior experience in a leadership capacity
- Proven expertise in Accounting Software Systems
- Proficiency in managing Accounting Functions
- Experience in preparing Annual Budget
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct software would be a plus
- Proven skills in Team Management
- Ability to create and manage Cash Flow Forecasts
- Expertise in Cash Flow Analysis and Cash Flow Management
- Experience in Cash Flow Modeling and creating Cash Flow Reports
- Proficient in Cash Management
- Able to conduct Internal Financial Reporting and Monthly Financial Reporting
- Strong skills in Financial Analysis
- Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting
- Ability to Analyze Business Requirements
- Experience with Consolidated Financial Statements would be a huge plus
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. Advanced degree or certification, such as MBA or CPA is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated capacity to empower and motivate teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
