Job Title: VP & General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland
Location: London, UK
Introduction to role:
Join us as the VP & General Manager for the United Kingdom & Ireland at Alexion, a division of AstraZeneca. In this role, you will be responsible for our operations in the UK and Ireland market, contributing to the value creation and strategic development of the company in all aspects: scientific, medical, marketing, market access and governmental affairs. You will lead a cross-functional market team, driving employee engagement and playing a key role in talent development.
Accountabilities:
As the VP & General Manager, you will be responsible for achieving annual budget targets, leading the implementation of business plan objectives and strategies within the UK and Ireland. You will act as the lead person for national reimbursement processes, develop and maintain an effective internal and external network, and ensure that activities under your responsibility align with company policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent for the UK & Ireland market.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry in a country general management role or in a regional/global marketing and sales function with growing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, medical, market access) in the UK.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving growth, including launch experience.
  • Sound knowledge of pricing and reimbursement strategies and plans in the UK.
  • Strong exposure to building commercial reputation, collaborating with key external stakeholders and patient advocacy groups in the UK.
  • Knowledge and expertise in specialty care.
  • Sound knowledge of medical products distribution process.
  • Experience in building high-performing organisations with highly capable and engaged teams.
  • Fluency in English is a requirement.
  • University Degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree in business management preferred
  • Scientific Degree an advantage.
  • Experience in national reimbursement negotiation and/or private insurances a definite advantage.
  • Experience in orphan diseases is a plus.
