Description:

This role is accountable for the end-to-end people technology roadmap and delivery at IHG. This leader will lead a global team across all facets of technology and service delivery designed to operate in an efficient and effective manner for our people leaders. This will include ongoing continuous improvements across all platforms while partnering with external vendors and internal stakeholders to build significant evolutions of the technology and service offering over time. Additionally, this role includes oversight of IHG’s corporate and Hotel payrolls globally including all related processes, audits, compliance and fiduciary requirements

  • Lead, design, and implement EC-approved regional growth and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate strategic goals into an action for the Americas region, optimizing the value of the business unit for key stakeholders (e.g., Unrivalled Owner Returns, Growth & Acceleration of New Brands, Brands Guests & Owners Love, Leading Commercial Engine, Care for people, communities & planet)
  • Manage and execute strategic projects as delegated by the Regional / Functional lead.
  • Work with designated project sponsor(s) to provide thought leadership, strategic analysis, project management support, and integration with functional, regional, global workstreams and partners.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with senior leaders in the region, across functions, and in the Owners Association
  • Develop recommendations and troubleshoot key issues to assist the Regional / Functional leads.
  • Support the delivery of global initiatives to deliver Unrivalled Owner Returns
  • Maintain oversight of analytical frameworks and financial models to provide consistent and rigorous strategic analyses (e.g., market dynamics, business models, emerging growth opportunities, competitor actions, IHG capabilities, IHG economics, industry financial drivers)
  • Develop presentations to support strategic discussions at RLT, EC or Board meetings, as appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison to the IHG Owners Association and support IHG leaders with their OA engagement.

EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Strategy, Finance, Real Estate or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. MBA desirable.

CRITICAL EXPERTISE & EXPERIENCE:

8-10 years in progressive work experience in strategy, consultancy, business development, or finance, or 5-8 years corporate level experience with exposure to a broad range of business development or growth activity. Post-degree qualification and previous travel industry experience is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and understand a variety of internal and external economic and financial issues with impact to the business, to analyze data and forecast future business trends, and to develop strategic plans based on business needs and market assessments.
  • Proven strategic thinking through an ability to analyze markets, performance data, and complex business issues and draw insight/conclusions (balancing need for both traditional outputs with unconventional thinking and innovation)
  • Applies seasoned business judgment and a deep understanding of IHG’s brands and systems to enhance the company’s competitive advantage.
  • Strong leadership, team building, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing high value projects from conception through implementation across a variety of stakeholders and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to give effective presentations; internally and to clients, and to be persuasive in promoting the company’s capabilities in a highly competitive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong influencing, consensus building and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the social and political process within an organization, and an understanding of how to gain agreement in a matrix environment.

Owns:

  • Recommending solutions to critical regional initiatives
  • Delivery of key strategic, complex projects across the Region / Function
  • Development of Board presentations
