The VP R&D for Radiometer is responsible for leading the global R&D function within the Acute Care Diagnostics Business Unit thereby positioning Radiometer as a leading Point of Care diagnostics partner in acute care settings. The role will lead R&D strategy and execution across Product Systems, Instrument Hardware Development, Instrument Software Development, Immunoassay Development, Sensors, Solutions and Accessory Development as well as Digital Software Development. The role will have reporting lines from R&D global sites in Denmark, India, Poland, Finland, US and China. The team consists of 400+ associates worldwide. This will be a hybrid role based out of the Radiometer HQ in Brønshøj with travel to various Radiometer sites globally.
In this role, you will be a part of the Acute Care Diagnostics leadership team providing strategic direction to the BU, reporting to the VP and GM of the BU. The role will also be an extended L1 team member, working closely with the OpCO President and the Radiometer L1 leadership team. As part of this role, you will closely work with other cross-functions in the organization (matrix structure), including strategic marketing, PMO, Clinical and Medical Affairs, Operations, Regulatory and Quality Affairs. THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, MBA advantageous but not required.
  • Substantial leadership experience in a large global, highly matrixed organizations, leading tenured directors/senior directors across multiple sites
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting complex scientific/technical problems
  • High level competency in business management with financial acumen
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Global change management experience advantageous
  • In-depth knowledge and application of strong processes and continuous improvement tools including lean, visual project management, standard work, KPI’s, etc.
  • Experience within medical and in-vitro diagnostics is advantageous (MDR/IVDR/FDA)

IT WOULD BE A PLUS IF YOU ALSO POSSESS PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Experience of working in a business unit setup in close collaboration with other cross-fuctions in the organization
  • Experience leading R&D strategy, R&D Management teams, development, growth, and successful execution of complex programs
  • Exposure to senior leadership teams including C-suite

Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic direction for the R&D department, aligning with the company’s overall mission, goals and objectives. Lead the development and execution of advanced technology strategies to ensure the company stays at the forefront of the industry
  • Strengthen customer centric product development plans and processes to ensure innovative and effective solutions are brought to market promptly and efficiently
  • Drive execution through a team of highly experienced R&D specialists and leaders both for development of new products, as well as maintenance and improvement of existing ones
  • Be the voice of R&D in the organization, contribute to the strategic vision and directionof the Acute Care Diagnostics business as well as Radiometer strategy (L1 team)
  • Enhance product and technology roadmaps, in partnership with strategic marketing, open innovation, sales and commercial enablement, and other cross-functions in the organization
  • Build a robust talent pipeline for the department by attracting, hiring, developing and retaining strong R&D talent. Coach and mentor direct reports with a focus on leadership, performance, development, diversity and inclusion
  • Oversee and manage global R&D budget and headcount (400+ associates across Denmark, Finland, Poland, US, India and China)
  • Support and lead a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging the Danaher Business Systems and set expectations for high performance across the R&D organization. Improve and maintain EHS and compliance standards
