Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity within our Corporate Risk team! We are seeking a dedicated VP, Specialty Casualty to play a key role in expansion into the Management Liability space, with a focus on large, multinational, risk-managed accounts.
In this role, your primary focus will be to leverage your Management Liability expertise, and your network to launch and generate a profitable Management Liability portfolio. With the support of technical underwriting resources, your focus will be to establish and build a full Management Liability product suite and grow a profitable Management Liability portfolio, team and brand. You will lead and participate in product development of a full suite of Management Liability solutions including Directors’ and Officers’ Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Errors and Omissions on a primary and excess basis, for privately held and publicly traded companies. You will lead the Management Liability team and represent Aviva at external meetings with brokers and clients and drive profitable growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Management Solutions strategy, including the build and development.
  • Lead market engagement and participate in client meetings across Canada to understand risk profiles.
  • Lead, maintain and develop broker intermediary relationships to create business flow in the Management Liability space.
  • Work alongside the Corporate Risk Underwriting team members to cross-sell and support Customer focused solutions.
  • Build out and develop our Management Liability tools, solutions, appetite and growth strategy, in collaboration with a variety of Aviva stakeholders.
  • Keep informed on technical issues relevant to the role and work alongside the Central Technical Unit to enhance wording, guidelines, referrals, pricing, etc.
  • Collaborate and engage with Aviva UK Management Liability colleagues to stay abreast of UK market dynamics and leverage companywide Management Liability insights and learnings.

What you’ll bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree with a focus in Business or Finance is required.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of underwriting experience (including at a senior level) in Management Solutions with a focus on large accounts is required.
  • Leadership experience, including experience building a portfolio.
  • A broad network of relationships with key Canadian brokerages and clients is required.
  • Additional professional qualifications related to Insurance or Finance are strongly recommended.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
