Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented leader to take on responsibility for Transit Major Projects Operations and Maintenance in Canada Region and in other parts of the global environment. The highly qualified candidate will demonstrate an established career in the Operations and Maintenance of existing rapid transit lines, including metro/subway, light rail transit and bus rapid transit, with a particular focus on the transition of new builds into day-to-day operations.
The leader will establish and grow a practice involving Transit Operations, with a focus on Canada and the United States. The scope of this practice will include strategic advisory services for transit operations and maintenance, including support to clients on the commissioning of new services, optimizing existing transit services and supporting the implementation of principles of asset management.
The position will report to the Vice President, Transit Market Sector Leader for Canada Region and will work collaboratively in a matrix organization, across multiple business lines, disciplines and regions. The successful candidate will also work with AECOM’s Global Business Line and teams from regions outside of Canada, and will have an integral role building and maintaining relationships with key clients. The candidate will use existing networks and build new networks, and develop growth plans and recruit key resources to address market opportunities.

  • Develops and executes on growth strategies for opportunities in Canada and abroad,
  • Leverages existing relationships with clients and customers,
  • Works collaboratively across the Transportation Business Line in Canada and globally to build teams and pursue opportunities,

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in transit operations within or in partnership to a major transit agency.
  • Valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Planning, Engineering, Architecture or related discipline.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer, Professional Planner, Registered Architect, Program Manager or similar relevant professional.
  • Experience in working with municipal governments and their agencies.
  • Proven track record with large client project management, project execution and multidisciplinary team management.
  • Recognized expertise in transit operations and maintenance, with a focus on bringing new lines into operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated track record in broad administration including budgeting, contract negotiation, contract management, policy development and performance management.
  • Recognized passenger rail/transit leader with developed relationships among key clients and professional organizations.
  • Strong profile and reputation, with a focus on Transit Operations and Maintenance in general, and System Testing and Commissioning in particular.
