Your Profile

We are looking for a high-profile personality with above-average knowledge and sound scientific and practical experience in the field of transport infrastructure and a degree in civil engineering or a comparable discipline (Master’s, Diploma) as well as a doctorate in the field of transport infrastructure.

  • You can demonstrate relevant professional experience outside of universities in a responsible position. Comprehensive expertise in the planning, construction and/or operation of transportation infrastructure as well as the implementation and management of corresponding projects is desirable
  • You are well networked in practice, preferably participate in subject-related committees and strive for active participation in the university’s research activities (e.g. within the STAMP research focus). They are able to teach the full range of transport infrastructure subjects on the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses in Civil Engineering. This includes, in particular, courses on transport planning and traffic engineering, public transport systems and the design, construction and operation of transport routes, including their integration with urban and regional planning, taking into account aspects such as sustainability and digitalization.

The subject areas are to be represented both in teaching and in applied research. We expect very good didactical skills as well as the willingness to participate in the exchange with our international partner universities and to offer courses in English. In addition, we expect committed participation in teaching basic subjects and possibly giving lectures in related subject areas.
We expect the applicant to integrate themselves well into the existing team both professionally and personally, to get involved in the academic self-administration of our university and to enjoy imparting knowledge from their own professional experience to the students.
The university has a large number of collaborations with universities and research institutions such as Max Planck Institutes and Fraunhofer Institutes as well as companies. Intensifying and expanding these collaborations is highly desired.
Active participation in the university’s research activities is desired. In this context, we strive to increase third-party funding and the number of cooperative doctorates.
We advocate a supervision concept that requires a high level of presence of the teaching staff at the university campus.
German language skills (at least level C1) and English language skills are required. Teaching language ist mainly German.
The hiring requirements for professors are regulated in Sec 49 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
