To provide practical help and support under supervision to Nurses and medical staff patients and their families cared for on Acute Medicine Receiving Area. The post holder will be required to assist with clerical, receptionist and housekeeping duties including dealing with stores, equipment, general stocking up, delivery and collection of urgent requests.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 2 Ward Housekeeper to join a diverse and motivated team that is dedicated to the development of skills and the delivery of high quality safe care. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, content with working in a busy environment and who has good time management skills to support the ward team in providing a clean and safe environment. You must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. It is essential that you act professionally at all times, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise work load. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to work to a high standard. The successful candidate will be a valuable addition to our team who will on a day to day basis be responsible for ensuring the ward is adequately stocked and equipment is maintained . You will be working closely with the Ward Sister to ensure the ward is organised and a high standard of cleanliness is maintained.

To stock up unit trolleys, including bedside, cannulation, etc.
Check in deliveries and supplies and store appropriately
Maintain levels of clinical and non-clinical items
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and tidiness
To undertake messenger, delivery and collection duties or urgent
requests, specimens, x-rays, pharmacy items etc.
Complete documentation when factual information only is required, this
must be countersigned by a supervising registered Nurse.
Adhere to all issues of confidentiality
To communicate clearly in both written and verbal form with members
of the multi-professional team, patients and relatives.
To ensure all documentation meets legal and Trust requirements
maintaining confidentiality of written and spoken records.
To promptly manage to telephone messages, and ensure relevant
personnel are informed.
To ensure families are aware of the facilities available to them in the
unit and hospital.
Assist with appropriate nutrition and cultural needs
To relieve the nursing team of non-nursing duties and carry out ad hoc
requests from the co-ordinator e.g. keeping information files up to date,
Photocopying, and filing health information racks.
To work as a member of the team providing competent compassionate
care to patients and relatives.
To ensure that the Trust’s Health, Safety and Risk Management
Policies are adhered to by patients, staff and visitors at all times.
To provide a clean and safe environment for patients and relatives.
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Trust Policies and Procedures.
To attend role related mandatory training
To contribute to the annual performances appraisal with individual
Objectives and personal development plan.
To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required
