Description:

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual to take on the role of the Ward Manager to provide leadership, management and support to the ward team and is responsible for the provision of patient care, ensuring that it is evidence based and of a high standard and to maintain 24-hour responsibility for the clinical area.
The post holder will ensure that patients receive the necessary care and treatment within this 25 bed elective surgical ward. This will be achieved through the application of specialist knowledge, skills and practice.
This role requires close working relationships with a wide range of the multi-disciplinary/speciality teams, the Consultants, Heads of Nursing, Matrons, Ward Managers and the Clinical Site Management team. In order to succeed in this role you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to have the ability to deal with challenging situations in a fast paced environment in a professional and calm manner.
We are looking for Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years’ experience in an acute environment with outstanding leadership and organisational responsibilities, excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and experienced in decision making and problem-solving.

The Ward Manager focuses on the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers. Nurses/Midwives in this role will:
Have continuous responsibility for a defined clinical area;
Be the key contact member for the multidisciplinary team
Provide professional leadership and line management for a team of nursing/midwifery and support staff;
Delegate work and supervise colleagues accordingly;
Assess patients, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based care;
Provide expert clinical advice;
Ensure patient pathways are optimally managed;
Manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively;
Be responsible for the safety of the clinical environment;
Champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
Ensure his/her group of patients have a managed pathway and beds in the ward are optimally utilised, seeking expert support if required.

Work with the multi-disciplinary health team, Social Services, carers, families and other agencies to achieve health goals during an inpatient stay.
To ensure safe discharge arrangements to the lowest care setting achievable are made, and minimise re-admission rates due to inadequate discharge arrangements.
To ensure there is a an effective handover process in place that enables members of the health care team, social services, carers, families and other agencies to be fully aware of any care needs.
Working with People to Provide a Positive Experience of Care
Be a role model for ‘Compassion in Care’ and the Trust’s Values and Behaviours, adhering to the NMC Code, and challenge any colleagues who do not demonstrate these attributes. .
Daily rounding of all patients seeking feedback, to ensure that their experience of nursing/midwifery care on the ward is positive, and act to put things right if any concerns emerge.
To ensure that patient information is readily available and that there is an effective process tor gaining and responding to patient feedback.
Ensure all staff in the clinical area are compliant with the Trust’s Dress Code and Uniform Policy.
Demonstrate the principles of equality and diversity in practice, respecting the rights of individuals and groups
