Description:

We have a really exciting opportunity to join our Haematology team as the Ward Manager for Ward 34.
Ward 34 is a 17 bedded ward looking after patients with a variety of haemotological conditions and provides specialist treatments and management for these patients, this includes delivery of chemotherapy treatment, stem cell delivery, blood factor products and other specialist treatments.
The ward is closely linked with the haematology day unit, the oncology ward and have a good support network with the Haematology Consultants, Specialist nurses and administrative staff.
Successful candidates must have proven leadership skills, excellent management skills as well as demonstrating that you are passionate about making a difference and leading teams to deliver excellence.
We are looking for a senior nurse that is dynamic, innovative and passionate in the delivery of high standards of patient care and who is able to support us in achieving our Ward Accreditation.
Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high-quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Demonstrate good use of communication skills in working with the wider multidisciplinary team, including patients and their carers to enhance patient outcomes and improve the quality of care.
Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of holistic care and provide clinical leadership by being a knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice, supporting staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
Support the Ward to achieve expected outcomes in line with Ward Accreditation and other Trust initiatives.
Create a climate in which patients and carers are empowered to make informed choices about their health and treatment options.

Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes. Responsible for interdepartmental/organisational activities including HR; complaints; appraisal; hospital bleep-holder responsibilities on a regular basis and patient flow. Contributing and managing action plans through a considered and integrated approach based on information gathered through PALs/complaints, feedback and audits.
Undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring; equipment management, deliver systemic anti cancerous treatments and administration of invasive tests/procedures.
Responsible for education and training provision of identified staff groups, patients and carers within defined areas. Promote and facilitate the implementation of clinical supervision as a vehicle for practice and staff development throughout the service and participate in regular performance and personal development reviews and work to achieve agreed objectives.
Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
