Responsibilities:

ALL ABOUT THE ROLE

Based at our Barrett Steel South West, Bristol site, we have an excellent career opportunity available for a Warehouse Day Shift Supervisor; the purpose of this role is to assist the Managing Director and Operations Manager in leading & organising a production shift within the warehouse with key responsibility for overseeing the warehouse/saw operatives, this includes driving processes, whilst ensuring all health and safety standards are adhered to and your team are well trained and engaged. The shift hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm.

Specific tasks include:

  • Promote a safe environment and culture throughout the workforce, promoting a culture where safety always comes first, while ensuring all activities comply with Barrett Steel Health & Safety policies
  • Achieve a high level of customer service and satisfaction, promoting the Barrett Steel Quality policy and local Operating Procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the warehouse
  • Motivate, train, and develop the shift, managing its performance, to maintain an effective team capable of meeting its current and projected objectives.
  • Ensure accuracy throughout the key areas of the warehouse structure.
  • Working with the team under the direction of the Managing Director and Operations Manager to develop and implement operational solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost.
  • Coordinate shift activities efficiently and effectively.
  • Filling in, when required to ensure orders are fulfilled.
  • Providing holiday cover for the other Shift Supervisors

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE ROLE:

  • Able to demonstrate success gained in leading/supervising a team.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of H&S. (Ideally IOSH trained but not essential)
  • Have managed and developed or supported in effective team working.
  • Excellent communication, planning & organisational skills.
  • Can use a side loader& FLT and band saws.
  • Looking for a long-term career
