Role Title: Warehouse Manager

What will this role achieve?
Located at the Carlisle site reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the role holder must be able to manage the demands of frequent operational changes. They will be responsible for coaching, developing and leading direct reports - Supervisors, Advanced Team Members, Stock Controller and Operators. In addition, they will also be responsible for achieving targets and business Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) within role remit. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for planning and prioritising workloads and ensuring maximum use of resources whilst ensuring the smooth running and efficiency of all aspects of the warehouse function and its service to manufacturing and operations.
The Warehouse Manager will:
- Control the site receipt, storage and movement of materials to the production process to ensure successful completion of the factory production plan.
- Budget management and control, managing operational overhead costs for site warehousing and distribution and FLT fleet.
- Manage the storage and movement of finished goods (where applicable to site) to maximise customer service to customer and/or company distribution centres through the effective management of site movement and storage control
- Work closely with Supplies Manager & Supply chain manager.
What will be your key deliverables?

Responsible as part of a site team for delivering Conformance to Plan
- Responsible for the smooth running and efficiency of all aspects of the warehouse function and its service to manufacturing and operations.
- Responsible for stock accuracy and adherence to weekly stock counting schedule & resolution of site stock variances
- Responsible for planning & prioritising work & ensuring maximum use of resources
- Responsible for all aspects of communication with Distribution Centre ie Hot Weather, segregation, in house storage, transport bookings.
- Responsible for the motivation level of direct reports, for leading & coaching, identifying, evaluating & developing initiatives to ensure skill & competency levels are maintained to deliver KPIs
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports
- Addresses performance issues positively and remains focused on main priorities
- Maintain delivery and loading schedules to enable delivery of excellent customer service
- To ensure communications to all levels is timely and appropriately levelled to optimise site relationships
- To recognise and understand the culture of the site, in order to ensure change, both culturally and operationally is managed positively, and proactively
- Ensure company & statutory regulations & guidelines are followed, with an emphasis on manual handling. Lead by example to always ensure the site Health and Safety (H&S) policy is implemented and followed
- Proactively promote a behavioural safety culture
- Responsible for driving improvements to FLT driver safety on site
- To ensure standards of discipline are maintained in line with company policy
- Recruitment of Warehouse Operatives
- Absence Management and Disciplinary procedures in accordance with Policy
- Managing the inbound and outbound operation (24 hours x 5 days) for the Carlisle site within budget. Including all inbound ingredient and packaging deliveries, line services and the dispatch of finished product into the UBDS network and direct to export customers. Additionally manage elements of the waste management process.
- Manage the flow of inbound materials and outbound goods for the site within the procedures governing the receipt, safe storage handling despatch of raw materials and finished goods.
- To ensure that operational procedures / processes are carried out efficiently and are fully compliant with health and safety requirements and site safety policy (near miss forms) and departmental standard operating procedures.
- Provide an efficient interface with the site supply team, manufacturing, UBDS and external suppliers in terms of plan coordination, process development and issue resolution.
- To be the site Autostore super user ensuring key aspects of the system are well maintained and managed (i.e. date codes, data maintenance etc)
- Ensuring the equipment used in the operation is maintained efficiently (ie stretchwrap M/c’s, scanning & labeling equipment, conveyors and MHE equipment).
- Managing the use of the fleet onsite, ensuring all users are appropriately trained.
- Guide and develop the site service team to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety, productivity, service, quality and systems development and to develop and embed a WPO culture.
- Report on and ensure delivery of financial targets for the operation in line with objectives set by the Supply Chain Manager.
- Ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to across all shifts and individuals.
- Monitor and report progress against KPI’s and take corrective action where necessary.
- Define a resource deployment plan for the Inbound/Outbound team on a shift by shift basis to meet the flow of product into and off site in accordance with site Inbound Outbound budget.
- Ensure legal compliance of loads leaving the site.

- Proven experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Experience of successfully managing teams
- Trained in the following systems; SAP, Autostore, Sugatrak, Time & Attendance, Production Planning
- Inbound / Outbound logistics experience
- Distribution processes knowledge
- Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) knowledge
- FLT/Mechanical handling
- Waste Management
- Load Planning
- IT literate and confident at learning and using a variety of systems
Desirable
- Experience of working in a highly unionised environment
- Experience of servicing all aspects of manufacturing, including Waste Management
- Industry recognised Safety & Hygiene courses completed
What will the interview process be?
-
1st stage interview – 45 minutes competency-based interview based on our company values and your experiences.
- 2nd stage interview – 60 minutes – a technical interview to understand your skill set/case study or presentation interview.
pladis does also use both Psychometric and Aptitude tests to support our processes so you may be asked to complete these as part of your process.
