PREFERRED EDUCATION:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of supervisory and manufacturing experience
  • Strong inventory management knowledge
  • Familiarity with lean warehouse concepts
  • Coaching and leadership capability
  • Ability to train staff in critical warehouse concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced user of Maintenance Connection

POSITION TYPE – WORK HOURS – TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position is full time, exempt
  • Position works an eight (8) hour day shift, 5 days a week
  • Frequently travel by driving or airplane (10%)

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

Ensure the successful transition of warehouse operations from a contracted service to in-house. Develop and manage new procedures to incorporate the change from external to internal control of day-to-day activities.
Manage all operational, personnel and facility aspects of the central warehouse. Develop a safe environment to work and manage employees. Adopt current/emerging technological solutions to improve warehouse performance and reduce waste. Work with procurement and suppliers to identify synergies to create efficient inventory management and warehouse solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inventory Planning and Management

  • Maintain inventory cycle count per company policies and procedures
  • Maintain accountability for team performance and KPI’s related to inventory and warehouse management
  • Facilitate the identification and disposal of slow-moving, cannibalized and obsolete parts and assets
  • Coordinate/oversee flow of goods in and out of the warehouse
  • Act as a liaison with plant operation and maintenance to identify improvement opportunities
  • Identify duplicate inventory and consolidate where applicable
  • Implement best practices for facility management, such as 5S, housekeeping, etc.
  • Ensure efficient and organized storage
  • Facilitate motor turns
  • Take an active role in Maintenance Connection to improve process efficiencies related to inventory management
  • Work with MRO Procurement to ensure appropriate reorder levels
  • Identify and implement contemporary technology to improve efficiencies with warehouse or inventory management

Supervisory

  • Coaching/counseling/hiring of hourly warehouse employees.
  • Assign areas of responsibility to individual warehouse employees
  • Manage the training needs for all warehouse employees and new hires
  • Ensure adequate cross-training of warehouse employees
  • Build a team culture focused on engagement, employee development, and operational execution

Communication

  • Set short/long-term goals with warehouse and purchasing personnel regarding inventory accuracy
  • Chair periodic inventory reduction meetings with the mill

Safety

  • Foster and support an ongoing culture of safety
  • Develop the annual business safety plan for the warehouse
