Description:

We are a growing company specializing in electrical construction and service work. We seek a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Operations and Purchasing Manager who will play a vital role in the successful operation of our business by overseeing all procurement activities.
This position is responsible for strategic oversight and participation in procuring materials and equipment, controlling inventory, negotiating contracts, and managing the warehouse along with the extensive fleet of tools and vehicles. Expertise in procurement, vendor management, warehouse organization and inventory control will be essential in maintaining a smooth workflow and ensuring cost-effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A college diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are advantageous
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and able to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least three years of proven purchasing, sourcing & vendor management, preferably in the electrical or construction industry. Familiarity with electrical materials and their applications is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to negotiate favourable pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers
  • Skilled in identifying, developing and testing required proven processes
  • A meticulous approach to reviewing product specifications, ensuring accuracy in purchase orders, and verifying delivery quantities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, project managers, electricians, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze pricing data, market trends, and supplier performance to make informed procurement decisions
  • Understand supply chain processes and logistics to optimize material flow and minimize disruptions.
  • Possess well-developed analytical, decision and critical thinking skills
  • Able to problem solve, work independently and meet deadlines by managing work volume, tasks and time efficiently and is flexible in work approach
  • Able to operate or comfortable learning to operate a forklift
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract negotiation, and vendor management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate favourable terms, and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to effectively lead and motivate a small team
  • Proficient in using procurement software and tools for inventory management, supplier evaluation, and cost analysis
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse management

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and implement effective strategies and policies to optimize processes and drive cost savings
  • Manage the procurement of materials, tools, equipment, and services
  • Research and source suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, negotiate contracts, and maintain effective vendor relationships
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions
  • Oversee fleet management activities, including maintenance, fuel management, and compliance with safety regulations
  • Oversee tools and equipment, including usage, repairs & maintenance and compliance with safety regulations
  • Lead a small team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
  • Ensure the warehouse is well-organized, clean, and stocked with materials and tools to support project demands through management and hands-on participation
  • Implement inventory control measures, including regular stock checks, tracking, and optimization to minimize waste and maintain adequate supply levels
  • Arrange rentals of various equipment, such as lifts and specialized tools, ensuring timely availability and adherence to project requirements
  • Collaborate with team members (e.g. service electricians, site supervisors) to understand their needs and provide on-time, quality products and services
  • Track and report critical procedures to improve processes and mitigate risks
  • Partner with Finance to ensure all internal operations are managed effectively
  • Periodically, use a forklift, pallet truck, etc., to move material
  • Develop and implement safety protocols in the warehouse to create a safe and user-friendly environment for all employees
  • Professionally represent Kraun and demonstrate SPARK values consistently
  • Perform other duties as assigned
