Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Warehouse Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of warehouse associates, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities, and supporting the Warehouse Supervisor in managing workflows. This role involves coordinating tasks related to receiving, storing, and shipping products while ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. The Warehouse Team Leader plays a critical role in driving efficiency, promoting teamwork, and achieving operational goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and move items up to 20kg
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures (e.g., cold storage, hot environments).

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes and shipping/receiving procedures.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (certification is a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, guide, and motivate a team of warehouse associates in daily tasks, including order picking, packing, shipping, and receiving.
  • Delegate responsibilities and set clear performance expectations for the team.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support to ensure employees understand their duties and meet productivity standards.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues in coordination with the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor and assist in corrective actions.
  • Ensure that stock is properly labelled and stored in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound shipments to ensure efficient order processing, inventory handling, and timely deliveries.
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety guidelines and encouraging the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between warehouse associates and the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Communicate any operational issues, delays, or concerns to management and help resolve them in a timely manner.
