Description:

At SMS Equipment, our Warranty Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support as it related to the warranty functions within the branch. Our ideal candidate will be detail focused and great with communication and time management. This role is located in Elkford, BC.
The shift for this role is 5x2 rotation.
The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $52,000.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent as well as 1 year’s relevant experience in the industrial heavy equipment industry. Additional requirements include:

  • Excellent computer skills including the use of electronic systems to access and update electronic records.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide and exchange information with internal and external resources.
  • Excellent time management, work prioritization, and attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of customer contracts to make appropriate decisions.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining parts and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Opening and maintaining warranty work orders for all departments.
  • Running reports to check on scheduled work progress and informing the appropriate people of impending warranty filing deadlines.
  • Close all open work orders and reconcile WIP by either using credits or write offs or customer charges.
  • Present and review all potential write-offs to the Service Manager prior to executing.
  • Open files for repair to KOMATSU supplied mining and construction equipment covered by standard or extended warranty.
  • Backup support for warranty claim filing with equipment OEM as needed.
  • Ensure all pertinent documents required for claim processing are included with the claim prior to processing. Working with other departments to obtain these documents if not readily available.
  • Open parts warranty during the defined warranty period.
  • Monitor claims filed to ensure all items claimed have been approved and paid in full for parts scrapping purposes.
