JOB SUMMARY:

The Warranty Technician is responsible for timely and proper analysis/testing and reporting of customer warranty returns within the warranty system. They will comply with internal procedures and customer expectations. Their work will be done professionally, accurately and well documented. Often their reports will pass directly to the customer. They will drive continuous improvement in test methods and cost reduction within the scope of their work. They will escalate issues as needed. All while working as part of cross functional teams often including customers.

EDUCATION:

Technical degree - vocational education in electronics or mechatronics preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 1 year of experience in electronics manufacturing. Preferred experience with embedded SW products

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with lab equipment, testing and other systems for automotive evaluation as well as customer expectations for testing (validation, PPAP, etc.)
  • IT/Computer “proficient” to navigate complex lab systems.
  • Microsoft Excel or other expertise required for data handling, graphs, analysis, and presentations with the ability to draw conclusions from the analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent teamwork with the ability to work globally
  • Self-motivated and Results oriented
  • Ability to work with FMEAs
  • Problem solving skills and tools
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with customers
  • Product, Product application and/or Process knowledge
  • Quality Systems and CQI-14
  • Vehicle level troubleshooting
  • Background in automotive with manufacturing, quality or product engineering.
  • Competent with the 7 basic quality tools.

Responsibilities:

With a focus on continuous improvement and a reduction in warranty costs:

  • Lead the on-time, accurate and documented warranty returned part analysis. It will confirm failure modes as well as root cause whenever possible.
  • Support root cause analysis, problem solving, corrective actions and quality improvements in warranty, design and manufacturing.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of test methods and documentation. Link failure modes and customer diagnostics to our test methods whenever possible.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret and share warranty information appropriately (FAN charts; MIS; etc.…).
  • Support Warranty Improvement Teams as needed
  • Control warranty units returned by customer on the database
  • Keep warranty database updated including statistical graphics as required
  • Support reports developments
  • Work together with the multidisciplinary team in order to find the root cause of the failures
  • Develop necessary reports and presentations
  • Keep a good professional relationship with the teamwork and customers
  • Support corrective actions (8D’s) from returned warranty units
  • Support Warranty units returned by customers following procedures and needed protocols
  • Time availability
  • Any other requirement as needed by the operation
